Just to cool.

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Email from Randy Foley":

Include The Tabard as a late sixties venue which later became a medical supply store on Dorr St.
The Cave on Sylvania Ave. west of Secor was initially the Almond Cookie run my Marty and Kathy Baez in 67-68.
local bands like Kraak and regional acts like The MC5 and The Pack minus Terry Knight

There was a band called Fried Water around 1968 that I believe was Dave Briner's and featured Bob Roach on vocals and maybe Fred Jablonski on drums . I saw them at the Hullaballoo club on Navarre Road.
They may have morphed into a group with Joe Bruton on vocals and poss. Mike Davis on drums but still called Fried Water ?.
Tom Turvey then was the bass player when the band became Kraak . George was probably the fine guitarist in both group versions although can't recall his last name.

I thought the Fried Water opened for Iron Butterfly at the TU Fieldhouse in winter or spring of 69.

Used to crash the Tabard 68 and 69- used my older friend's Ohio ID's which didn't even have pictures on them then.

Next door was George's Olympic Billiards; full of SJ underclassmen on Saturday afternoons-nobody was 18. Great chili dogs along with the 3.2 beer.

Long time ago.....

Growing up in that area. I danced at the Fa Ba, also visited Leroys, the Kenwood Lounge, Tabard, Carosuel, Almond Cookie, hung out at yours and ours in North end. There was the peppermint club downtown. All very busy in the late 1960's.

I seen Kraack at the Sports Arena when I was about 15 or 16. I forget who they opened for but I'll never forget the guitarist with that blue Fender Strat playing Led Zep's Good Times Bad Times and sounding like Jimmy Page. You gotta figure these guys were playing material just being released from Zep's first album that year so they were on top of their game. Joe Bruton was Toledo's Robert Plant displaying talents he honed playing in The Rogues who were constant Battle of the Bands winners. A little history on The Rogues as I'm a credible source and use to put the records on the turntable for them to learn the songs and knew Dave, Joe and the guys. I lived across the street from Dave Briner who was the bass player. Dave replaced Don Von Tress who wrote the song Achy Breaky Heart and was responsible for starting Billy Ray Cyrus's career. Those were the days.

PROTON... you A**Hole! Joe this is Duncan from Tucson. You and Valdez and Faust & I threw some great parties out on the ranch. Haven't seen you since Boulder. Saw Don VonTress up in A2 a few years later, but was like 35 fucking years ago. Couldn't believe it when he wrote Achy Breaky.. happy for his success, but they played that song so often on the radio.. it was like Country Music version of the "Maharana" Can't believe I ran across your post.. I was kicking around You Tube and caught the MC. & spotted your post. "I am THE Joe Bruton. Sounds like the lead in to a film noir detective movie... black & whit

Good to see you are still kicking. Duncan

Great to find this site. Joe Bruton, shake a tail feather! Dave Briner was a good friend and lived with him a bit when he lived at Windsong off the River. So sad when he was tragically killed. Tom Turvey, also a long ago friend thru Pat Adams. Lothar Struff a friend from school! So cool to just touch past memories and know you’re still doing great! Paula
